How I Work

At the very heart of this method is a deep focus on emotional relationships and the core needs of the family. This is why I consistently work with the connection between parent and child instead of pressure. Coercion and rigid rules rarely achieve the desired results in language acquisition. Often, they only create resistance and frustration. In contrast, genuine emotional closeness, a secure sense of attachment, and shared joy are the keys that unlock intrinsic motivation for both parents and children alike. When a language is linked to positive emotions, your child doesn't learn because they have to, but because they want that connection with you.

Why Language is So Much More Than Just Words

There are countless families living in a country where their own native language is not the majority language. When you pass your language on to your child, you are giving them so much more than just vocabulary: you are sharing your identity, your roots, and your culture.

We build an even closer, deeper connection with our children through our native language. Why? Because we can often be our truest selves in our heart language. Feelings, nuances, and love are transmitted in a completely different way when we use the language we grew up with ourselves.

The Reality of Family Life: Where the Challenges Really Lie

Raising a multilingual child is beautiful.

But let’s be honest: it is rarely just about "learning a language." It is a deeply emotional journey. The real challenges usually happen behind the scenes of everyday, often hectic family life.

Perhaps you recognize one of these situations:

  • The refusal to speak: Your child understands your language perfectly but stubbornly refuses to speak it.

  • The takeover: The majority language is creeping in more and more, slowly taking over your entire daily routine.

  • The inconsistency: In the hustle and bustle of the day, you find it incredibly hard to consistently stick to your native language.

  • The uncertainty: You don't even know where to start, or you feel guilty because you think you aren’t doing enough.

  • The fresh start: You are expecting a baby or your child is still very small, and you want to get it right from the very beginning but don't know how.

  • Or a completely different, individual challenge that is currently testing your family dynamics.

Working Together

This is exactly where we come in. To adapt the method perfectly to your life, we use the following framework:

  • I work with the parents, not the children: You know your child best. I provide you with the psychological and practical tools to shape your daily life positively. That’s why we only need one shared language for our coaching. Since I speak German, English, and French, we can flexibly hold our sessions in any of these languages.

  • Every language is welcome: It doesn’t matter at all which language you want to pass on to your child. The LingFLoWS® method works universally for every language and every culture in the world.

My Wish for Your Family

I wish for you to have a home where growing up with multiple languages is experienced as a true gift – free from pressure and guilt, and instead filled with ease and beautiful shared moments. I want to give you the confidence and the tools to live your languages with genuine joy every day. My goal is to empower you so that you can navigate this adventure with total confidence and peace of mind, knowing that you are giving your child exactly what they need.

The LingFLoWS® method was developed by the renowned linguist Dr. Bettina Gruber. You can find more information on her website at www.dielinguistin.at.
